Hello and welcome! I want to share with you my hobby. I learned knitting and crocheting when I was a child from the most wonderful person I´ve ever knew, my Grandma, my mom´s mother. I used to spend hours and hours with her. I miss her so much. With this blog I want to show my praise, thank and love to her, hoping I can meet other knitters/crocheters and exchange patterns, projects and ideas as I did with Grandma!

A Wedding and High Speed Knitting
Last Friday, May 16th was a super happy day here. A very special couple got married: My dear friends Flor and Diego. Cheers!!! And something related to our hobby happened the week before the wedding. Flor called me: Her 12 years old niece Macarena needed a bolero to wear over the dress at the ceremony, and Flor thought I could knit it. The same night I looked for patterns and ideas at my knitting books and magazines collection. The next day Chichi -Flor´s mom and Macarena´s Grandma- bought the yarn. We met and I showed her the possible options. But... We hadn´t Macarena´s measures and she was playing hockey somewhere and wasn´t coming back to Buenos Aires until Friday night. I finally got the measures I needed on Saturday noon. Then I went to visit my friend Ale: She had knitted the AnthropologieCapelet by Julia Allentwice and she might be great help for me. And she was indeed! We had lunch together with her beautiful sons, and after that: Knitting time! Thank you, Ale! You helped me breaking the ice and starting a project for someone I never met before! Let´s say that I devoted to the knitting three afternoons: Saturday - Sunday - Tuesday, and I weaved in the ends on Wednesday morning. Wednesday afternoon I gave the finished project to the young lady. It was such a relief to see the happy faces from Chichi the Grandma, Flor my friend, Josephine the mother, and of course Macarena. The bolero was the perfect size for her, and everybody loved it. On Friday during the ceremony I felt proud to see the girl wearing it. And even more: She wore it during the whole party at night! Dear Flor and Diego: I wish you a wonderful beginning on the journey to a lifetime of love! Congratulations, Newlyweds!!! ;-)
I felt bad cause I didn´t finish Molly´s Birthday gift on time. Although I started to knit some weeks ago, my knitting daily time has become much shorter than I would like. Last Christmas dear Andi sent Molly the pattern book "Dog Gone Cute" and two lovely red and white balls (Fantasy - Dark Horse Yarns - 50% Nylon - 50% Acrylic). As I told you many times our Christmas in Argentina is Summertime, so the project had to wait. The very first surprise while knitting this was Molly´s behaviour! As you can imagine I had to try the work in progress on Molly´s body. I thought she wouldn´t like that, but she loved it! I chose the first pattern of the book called "basic coat". As usual I got the general pattern idea but then I changed all of it. Petite and small sizes were too small but medium was too big, so I had to do my own math. I also changed the front and instead of sewing behind the neck, I put a cute button. For the body I looked at another knitting book for a nice two-colors-intarsia (first time for me!). I´m very happy with the result and so does Molly! She gets many compliments when we go out for her walking!
Hello everybody! I´m alive! Rod Stewart ROCKS!!! His show was excellent, really one of the best concerts ever! I enjoyed every song soooo much! Come back soon, Rod! About my knitting, I´m sorry I don´t have any finished project to show you, I just need a couple of days more... In the picture above you can see the new flowers I bought last Sunday for my balcony. Although Fall officially began one month ago, we´re still having warm days here and I didn´t had the chance to wear a cardigan or at least scarf and mittens. Poor Planet Earth and the Global Warming, don´t you think? Back to the knitting, stay in touch! I´ll be showing you very soon what´s on my needles! See you!
2008 Buenos Aires Fashion Week (click here) This is a picture from last night at the Mumm´s VIP! We had a lot of fun with my friend Zori at the Sheraton Park Tower Hotel (click here)! We could watch three shows with the latest Fall-Winter collection. Nice people, funny music, sparkling drinks, great time!
Before mailing them to a dear friend, here a picture to share with you from the coasters I just finished! I´m very happy with the result - they turned out exactly the way I wanted! Do you remember when I learned to knit the Garterlac Dishcloth and made one after the other for all my friends? (click here) I also knitted one last year for this friend who had moved to a new place. He liked it very much and told me he was using it... as a coaster! Hey, then he needed coasters more than a dishcloth! That´s how I started looking for coaster patterns with the "entrelac" style. I found this pattern by Iris Shreier. Thank God I still had enough cotton. Don´t you think it´s the perfect match for the Garterlac Dischcloth?Warning: If you knit and watch TV at the same time, keep a post it on the pattern or a row counter on the needles not to miss a row! Otherwise be ready to frog! (I know why I´m telling you this...!) I can´t wait to go to the post office and mail them to you-know-who-you-are! ;-)
